The offspring asked me for something to read for autism awareness month. I didn't know it was autism awareness month. But apparently I finally got through to her that invalidating my late diagnosis of autism was hurtful. I ended up sending this, which in my opinion is far better than most that I've seen in the genre of "what autistic people wish NTs knew"

What It’s Like To Be Autistic: A First-Person Account

I’m autistic. This is what it really feels like. Sensory overload, masking, meltdowns vs shutdowns, burnout, and autistic joy. A lived experience.

HeyASD
@Nonya_Bidniss Thank you form posting this. I found it really enlightening.

(incorrect @, sorry Jerry!)

@Nonya_Bidniss It is the first time that I have read something so similar to what I experience daily, especially for the hypersensitivities. I often struggle to explain what it feels like, this text is spot on.

For the executive functions part, it is not mentioned, but for me there is probably some ADHD too for the author, because the description feels so much AuDHD like I am.

Anyway, this text is going to my references! @claire_ananos
