The tragicomedy of the UK's #YourParty continues to simultaneously generate tears of despair and howls of laughter. Factional ineptitude again.

The overwhelmingly-English UK leadership has refused to allow the Scottish leadership to contact Scottish members. Yes, really. Classic London party colonial treatment of the jocks.

So the leaders of #YourPartyScotland have resigned en masse, pledging to establish another new party.πŸ˜…πŸ€£

PS I should stress that I am not laughing at the members of #YourParty. Some of the most sincere, decent and reasonable activists I know in Britain joined YP in good faith, without factionalism. But while the mess in which they now find themselves is tragic for so many hopes, it is also very funny.
@2legged

OK now i'll have Lesley Gore's Classic as an earworm for ages.

I've said it for years: the problems with the Party Political System are Political Parties and the mindset behind them.

Never belonged to one, had a cracking name for a new one (The Anti-Party Party) and feel like banging my head against a wall when all peeps can come up with is change the sodding voting system.

Sadly as amusing as the latest ... stooshie may be, it just shows noone has any original ideas.

@AnguaDelphine I feel a little more charitable to #YourParty.

They have some of the generic failings of humans, but the prime cause of their downfall is that they are swamped with the headbangers from the various Trot factions which are mostly infiltrated/controlled/wholly-owned by state agencies who get a very high return on their investments in disruption of the left.

@2legged

Ah, would explain a lot.
I still dislike the basic system; whether it's that or regular corruption in established parties.

@AnguaDelphine it's easy to note the many failings of political parties. But I'm not seeing any non-authoritarian alternatives, and this looks like the least worst option.

But I do strongly support STV elections, to reduce party control.

@2legged I think it's to do with the SWP capture of the Scottish Party.
@Pamela1960 a pal from Leeds told me last night that the SWP had captured Leeds YP (and possibly the rest of West Yorkshire). He and his Corbynite pals had been cut off from YP comms channels on Sunday,
@2legged I knew this would happen when their conference agreed to allow membership of more than one political party. This was about Sultana trying to gain control.

@Pamela1960 Absolutely. Sultana is a persistently self-indulgent saboteur, and has been ever since her unagreed announcement last summer.

It's a pity that Corbyn is so conflict-averse. A tougher person would have headed off a lot of trouble just by shunning Sultana after that slimy stunt.

@2legged Exactly. Some of us new there was going to be a quiet launch early this year. Sultana went much too early, and called herself co-leader without agreement from anybody, and iit was obvious that she wanted the leadership. But she didn't get it. It was Corbyn that was the person people supported and initially it would have been him that got people to support the new party. Sultana is a nobody who thought the bandwagon would switch to her. Makes me think she was a 5th columnist from LINO.
@Pamela1960 I don't think the Sultana is a LINO fifth columnist. I think she is a direct subsidiary of 5, tho she may not be aware of it.

@2legged @Pamela1960 The SWP is a left wing fascist group if that makes sense - extremely authoritarian in respect to followers and supporters, highly rules based in attitude. Free thinking is frowned on.

Just a bunch of middle class arseholes following a failed ideology from the late 19th/early 20th century, and insisting everybody else do the same.

I wouldn't let them into a field, let alone a political party. Big mistake πŸ˜”.

Do I sound like I dislike the SWP? Good, lol!

@Oyu_Fka @2legged Me too. As a student, I was a member of Left Unity. I left when they tried to recruit me into Socialist Organiser.
@Pamela1960 @2legged I knew a few back in the 70's....the other mob was the 'international marxists', (international in the sense they were here in Wales as well as England, lol!). Clueless and ineffective to say the least. For the most part, self serving clowns trapped in their own echo chamber, tbh.

@Oyu_Fka my biggest objecton to the SWP is how they pressure young recruits into increasingly deep commitment and activism, and burn them out by the dozen. A lot of young lives are wrecked 😞

@Pamela1960

@2legged "One trot faction / sitting in a hall ..."
@2legged
I didn't realise they were still a thing πŸ€”
@MostlyTato Think of it as proof that there is life after death πŸ˜
