What hasn't #Trump destroyed?

The US housing market is still overpriced for most Americans.

@KimPerales The irony is that this may be a positive side effect. The fundamental nature of our economic system means that doing good increases the cost of housing.

@KimPerales Homes as investments tricked people into a mindset where they can't bring themselves to sell at a loss or even just "less than peak pricing".

This kind of surplus should be driving prices down, a lot.

@gooba42 @KimPerales

But that’s the trick and all this the sellers are really pushing houses on the market and this may mean that people want to move or they’re strapped and have to sell.

But how is private equity ever counted when it’s a buyer ? Are the buyer accounts based on bids or on the entities purchasing houses?

In other words, those houses could be sold, but they’re going into the hands of hedge funds and private equity still

@GhostOnTheHalfShell @KimPerales We really need to ban all non-human entities from owning residential real estate.

Apartment buildings might make that slightly more complicated but the simpler rule is still preferable. Hire a management company to run the building but ownership should still be traceable to a human being with human motivations and values.

@KimPerales

My ex hubby sold his house a couple of months ago after it had been on the market for almost two years. He really needed to sell. About one year in, I learned through my sons that he had turned down an offer that was about 75% of his asking price. Didn't even negotiate. I called him up and read him the riot act. Told him he'd better figure out what he needs, not what he wants, and engage with any offer that's anywhere close to what he needs.

Man, am I glad I did that.
