As heartening as the defeat of fascism in #Hungary 🇭🇺 was, let's be clear on one thing: #Orbán did not concede defeat out of the goodness of his heart. He conceded because massive street demonstrations, polls, and record voter turnout had convinced him that trying to overturn the election results by blatant force and fraud would result in a #revolution that would have more certain and dire consequences for him than concession would.

Similarly, if — as I now think likely — we succeed in effectively ending the Trump regime in November, it will not have been accomplished by voting ALONE. The massive #NoKings demonstrations, and the valiant, militant resistance in the streets of #LosAngeles and #Minneapolis, will have been just as essential as showing up to vote. Even if Trump is too demented to comprehend the message being sent, others in the regime will understand clearly. And the message we need to send is: do not even THINK about engaging in blatant election interference.

Electoralism and militant action are complementary. Our fascist enemies have always understood this: the Nazi SA found it quite natural to be handing out leaflets urging people to vote for Hitler, and the next minute to engage in street fights with the Red Front. We should be capable of just as much versatility.
