Our coffee maker's sprung a leak, so I'm looking into replacements.

There's my previous go-to, a Mr. Coffee with patented "On" button technology that costs $25, or the really nice one that we used in our office... that is apparently $350??

It's not plastic, and supposedly makes better coffee... but geez. I'm having a very hard time justifying that kind of money for something that makes water hot, even if it's very precisely so.

@windigo mr coffee
@windigo Mr Coffee, and a $20 remote control power outlet; so you can fill the coffee maker in the evening, and turn it on in the morning from the warmth of your bed.
@jezra @windigo but what about enjoying the pain of making tea ... er, coffee?
@x1101 @windigo pain is for tattoos, not coffee making

@jezra @windigo see, that was supposed to be a call back to an old Linux Outlaws bit about liking the pain of making tea (or running Arch).

I have a lot of silly coffee making tools, and I genuinely enjoy the process.

@x1101 @jezra I still remember Dan Lynch saying it in an old lady voice. :D

I don't use a timer often enough to have it integrated into the coffee maker - I just want it to make coffee, and ideally deposit it directly into an insulated carafe.

I might settle for a Mr. Coffee and a manual "pour into a $30 insulated carafe" step, because removing that step seems to cost at least $100 anywhere I look. o_O

@windigo @x1101 it sounds like you need to look in a thrift store. :)
@jezra @x1101 That's where Mr. Leaky Coffee came from. :(

@ken_fallon @windigo @x1101 last night I put water and coffee grounds in Mr Coffee. When I went to bed, I ran the Lights_Off and MorningAlarm-Coffee scripts.

When I awoke, I had to endure the pain of getting out of a warm bed, walking through a frigid kitchen, and pouring myself a hot cuppa.

the pain is REAL!

@windigo @jezra thank you for your service, my friend.

@windigo gotta say, seeing all those episodes there on Archive.org has me feeling some things.

It's been a long time. And I can still hear the theme song in my head.

Thank you for publishing these. I'm grabbing them now.

@jezra @windigo this reminds me I need a new tattoo.

Of course, I'd also say that about 30s after leaving a tattoo appointment
