Who are your favourite contemporary Indigenous / Native American / First Nations writers (including poets) based in Canada and the US?

I'm not looking for search engine results. I'm asking who /you/ read and enjoy. I'm especially interested in replies from Indigenous people.

Joy Harjo, Louise Erdritch and Julian Brave Noisecat are high on my list. Who's on yours?

[Please do not recommend Sherman Alexie. If you don't know why, look him up.]

@ShaulaEvans @ahimsa_pdx If kids books count, I would add Julie Flett, Monique Gray Smith, and Richard Van Camp :)

I agree with @beandreams on the kids books. Im currently blanking on more good ones but they exist.

My Ponca friend Cliff Taylor has a book or two, one is called "Memory of Souls".

Oddly my contributions that come to mind are scholarly

- The Indigenous Paleolithic of the Western Hemisphere By Paulette F. C. Steeves
- George Sword's Warrior Narratives by Delphine Red Shirt

the latter has other books I've not read.

Bringing up kids books made me remember 2 YA authors I enjoyed reading very much last year:
Darcie Little Badger and Angeline Boulley
