@t36k Wow, the first one is crazy, do you know what's their name? Is it local to your area?
@jandi I don't know its name and don't know if it's native. I've never seen it before but these photos were taken yesterday at a very manicured national park, the Presidio in San Francisco.

@t36k @jandi I actually thought you were in South Africa, as they are just what I saw when I was in the Western Cape some years ago. Nice that they're grown in a botanical garden.
@jandi @t36k came here to say it is a protea, in fact I think all of the flowers in the photos are from the family Proteaceae.
