@j9t didn't know about AirBnb, are there any good alternatives for that, or just falling back to hotels instead?
@Doctor0710 @j9t I've used VRBO - basically the same thing

@Doctor0710 @j9t Falling back to hotels is probably the best option rather than AirBnB.

Unfortunately, in some locations AirBnB & Booking.com essentially have a monopoly - especially on apartments. Once you've visted somewhere, you can get to know the apartment owners & book direct from them, but getting there in the first place is a potential stumbling block.

@kittylyst @j9t yea, I usually stay at least a month, sometimes more, because the places I visit have huge monthly savings on airbnb, hotels and other platforms can't match that (yet) - I already checked on VRBO which was mentioned before. Getting to know the owners and booking directly is definitely a good shout though...
@Doctor0710, for us, that’s what we’re doing. We had been Airbnb and Booking.com power users, have stopped using them, and haven’t looked back. Airbnb has been enshittified anyway, Booking.com gave discounts on their markups. Don’t even feel we pay more now.
