Am afraid my commute isnt enough training for this years WTF but also today topped a climb that always causes suffering, this time with heavy tires and loaded panniers, without much pain at all.
So maybe its enough
@h2onolan I've noticed a weird thing with commuting where everything seems the same forever and then all of a sudden there will be a jump in say how fast it takes you to get somewhere. I'm noticeably faster than when I started 5+ years ago commuting this distance. Even with riding the heavier bike now. And while I can't do really serious distances, my recovery time is also much better. If I ride 10 miles and have a break I can easily go another 10, and repeat that at least once more. Bodies are weird.
@SRLevine @h2onolan This definitely happens with my pedestrian "going to the store on bicycle". And very much my aerobic capacity has significantly ncreased since I started bicycling again. (even as someone who goes hiking every day).
@ai6yr @SRLevine there are a few people around town who i see pedaling everywhere, all the time. They arent fast but i bet they could do 100 miles/day without even noticing.
@SRLevine amazing machines. I hit 90 miles this week and dont really feel it at all. Well, except for being hungry.

@SRLevine @h2onolan
Here is my weird body adaptation.
If I try to run after even a bowl of oatmeal, guaranteed I'm gonna paint my sneakers. Worse if I try to swim

But after decades of eating breakfast and immediately jumping on a bike, I can apparently eat a meal and hammer up a hill with almost no ill effect.

Have you noticed this?
