This is a frightening map, especially given the fact that this is normally near the peak in snowpack across the West. There are many far-reaching consequences from this historic snow drought, ranging from increasing risk of summer wildfires to major water concerns.

What bugs me about this as somebody who has lived in the state all their life, is the loss of the snow pack is something that has been for seen for quite some time.

There really hasn’t been anything done to address it to my knowledge, except even crazier, notions of major dam projects.

The Colorado was not in very good condition either. And there are all these farms raising alfalfa and other water intensive crops such as almonds and cotton with senior water rights
