This actor is getting slagged on Chinese social media for being too pretty to be a general. And while I'm on team 'more grissly generals' I find that slightly unfair. The character's beauty is written into the script, and is a plot point during the first episodes, so he's mostly just doing his job. But it _is_ a fun debate to engage in, so I couldn't resist the bait; see toot below.
Pretty generals are not unheard of in history. General Murat (surname), one of Napoléon's officers, dressed in pink silk and lace*, and wanted to be bathed in eau de cologne after his death. Being a gigantic cream puff didn't hinder him the least, instead it was his impulsive manners that got the better of him. He was tried and executed for treason and by surviving records faced the firing squad, as they say, 'like a man'.
