I've always loved ducks but have an even greater appreciation for them after watching the 1st episode of David Attenborough's Secret Garden tv show and seeing how incredible Dorris the female mallard was raising her nine ducklings!

This isn't Dorris but is a beautiful female mallard (with her male counterpart) that appeared along the river path in front of me recently.

@johnmwildlife it's a good series isn't it ? I went out to find kingfishers in London today, but "all" I saw was a couple of buzzards, a cormorant catching and eating an eel, and many blue tits, black tits, wrens, and black caps. No luck on the Sand Martins though (yet).

(there is so much wild life even in the city)

@derickr I've only been able to watch the first episode so far but it was incredible. How fortunate they were to have all that wildlife on their doorstep!! Hope you can see some Kingfishers soon, we have them up here but they are very shy (and quick)! I lived in London for a while and was always amazed at how much wildlife there was thriving in its own way!
