AI is sooo weird.
It's like this little electronic model of brain that has all the world's knowledge compressed into it in a little hyperdimensional latent space representation of meaning just built out of word connections.
Except, it has no ego, no desires, no interests, no goals. It just sits there until you tell it who it is and what it should do.
Then it just assumes the role you gave it and proceeds to do the thing you asked it to do as best it can.

What's so weird is how it's rather like a person who's highly hypnotizable. The hypnotist gets a subject into trance and tells him, e.g, 'You are a rock musician and when I snap my fingers you will put on a big show and play an imaginary guitar in front of a huge audience." Or whatever the suggestion is.

I don't know if anyone has made this comparison before but it seems a pretty obvious one.
I have often wondered about hypnosis. I tried going to a hypnotist once. I don't think I'm hypnotizable - or maybe he wasn't very good. I don't know.
Anyway, I find it so eerie, the similarity.
