the fuck? our *GG* doesn't speak French? That happened? That's nuts.

I mean fair cop I don't speak French either beyond the "ou est la biblioteque" and "on va a la plage" level but... I am not the governor general of the dominion of Canada am I
speaking of French I have been considering trying to dive back into it. One thing that has held me back (probably unnecessarily) is that I have zerooooooo interest in learning *Parisian* French, and I know that Quebec French is not like ALL that different or anything ,but I have zero interest in spending time in France.
so Radio-Canada/CBC has an app called Mauril that's supposed to learn you some French through CBC/RC sources, and I figure that's the "right" French, so, maybe. https://mauril.ca/en/
Discover Mauril: a free, fun and engaging way to learn French and English!

@adr That's nice to know actually. I haven't worked on my French since I was in Ottawa but probably should try for jobs purposes.
@adr it's kinda crappy. How about registering for 1st year french at McMaster? I bet you'd get a cheap rate.
@djfiander aw man
@djfiander that's like, actual school
@adr Did I tell you that I spent five weeks attending a real french school last summer? If you're motivated, it won't be hard.
@adr You want Franco-Manitoban bud.
@redlibrarian is that what you speak? But then what does young MC speak???
@redlibrarian to say nothing of straths and sigs!!!! What's their french?????
@adr MC is Franco-Ontarian, and close enough to Quebec that there's a bit of joualness in her family.

@adr I have "immersion french" (actually prolly a bit better than that), which is what you should aim for.

Strathy is Scottish and Sigmund speaks German.

@adr The nice thing about Manitoba French is you can just use your own accent. :P
@adr This was a thing when she was appointed - she speaks Inuktitut.
