...and then I think about how this US administration did everything to keep PPE away from its citizens. Whole trucks and planes were confiscated while first daughter was getting patents on coffins. I could go on...
I didn't know about Iran. I think at that time my exposure to news was limited. I knew about Canada, the US, the UK, and a bit about China.
I remember watching the news as the pandemic began to unfold, early, maybe mid February (?).
On the TV were the world maps, and Iran was highlighted more than most other countries outside of China. "Why Iran?" ran through my mind. Iran didn't strike me as major logistics hub.
The US citizens were just beginning to ramp up preparation, especially hospital personnel, for its arrival while also trying to circumnavigate the bamboozling by the US's so-called administration.
Strange about Iran. I did see what happened on your side of the border. On our side the governments did a decent job, I thought, but when I moved back to where I live now (the first summer of the pandemic), I discovered that most of my friends here were anti-maskers and/or anti-vaccine. I lost my best friend of many years - not because he wouldn't get a vaccine, but because he was completely immersed in all the conspiracy stuff. What a divisive time!
The divisiveness was/is so tragic. People I know people refused masking & vaccines. Several said they're bodies would naturally take care of them. One of them ended up on a respirator for months, the others have contracted covid several times over & now have health issues.
Strangely, the nonbelievers I know who always want to debate why their stance on non-medicine & non-doctors is the right choice even if I never bring up the topic nor talk about it. I blankly stare back & move on.
Agreed, the divisiveness is tragic... around covid but also in general. But I've really felt like the world is in some kind of period of choice right now, and I'm at peace with the things I've chosen to embrace... even if I don't always feel exactly peaceful.
Speaking of which, I hope you're feeling better than you were a couple of days ago.
Agreed. Civilization is evolving. We can always worry about & try to understand others, but for me, I don't want to spend my time w/those who don't believe in medicine nor science (and want to debate it). Covid definitely illuminated people's beliefs & I'm grateful for that.
More important is looking out for mom, caring for my aged dog, & coping w/daily life's anxieties & my eventual orphan life when they're gone. Dreadful anxiety fights me. I'm better this week though. Thank you.
Finding peace is a continuous path we walk down. I think we both must keep tending to the path. At least you're trying, right? That's a good thing.

This reminded me of something. A few days ago a guy asked me a question that I think was his lead-up to denying that the Artemis mission really happened. Thankfully he dropped it without going any further.
I'm not opposed to people questioning things, even things we take for granted. But there's a whole world of people that have to believe the opposite of literally everything the news reports.
That one is extra strange. I'm not convinced whoever started that one believed it.
