US defense official overseeing AI reaped millions selling xAI stock after Pentagon entered agreement with company

Expert said federal law bars officials from taking actions in their jobs that benefit their own financial interests

The Guardian

@ai6yr They just don't even have to hide the corruption anymore...

Eleven years ago if anyone did this there would be emergency meetings and police would perp-walk them out by the end of the day.

@nazokiyoubinbou Yeah, doesn't seem like it, apparently it's "loot the Federal Government Week" every week.
@ai6yr it's almost like laws have been written for decades to make corruption easier.
Does that imply this insider somehow doesn't believe in "1 million data centers in orbit"? 🫠😤

@ai6yr

It's crazy how people can't see AI is part of the same evil fascist agenda as this US regime.

@monkeyben @ai6yr Yes but not just AI. The whole culture of techbro "disrupters" with their brutal treatment of workers (and customers and the planet) and flagrant disregard for laws and morals has always been the epitome of evil. Too bad so many consumers found "an app for everything" regardless of the externalities irresistibly convenient.
@ai6yr Uber's entire operation flouts laws, screws workers, degrades the environment while making bullshit promises otherwise, and makes cities less safe and more congested, yet in the 2024 presidential race we got both major campaigns heavily influenced by its executives. Kamala Harris might have kept us treading water in the capitalist shitstorm instead of drowning as we are now if not for the advice of her Uber lawyer brother-in-law.
