I haven't smelled them, but I will tomorrow. Not sure why I didn't even think of that. We didn't plant them so I'm not sure which varieties they are. My mother-in-law planted them before she passed.

@terminaltilt If they are the smelly ones, you might want to think about gifting some tubers to friends and family. Those older varieties are dying out... Too many hybrids. We have some really heavenly scented ones (as well as some old-school lilacs). I've been reading up on how to divide the peonies. I'm more versed in growing stuff from seed or root-cuttings, but want to master dividing more bulbous plants.
