In case anybody is confused about what is going on with todon.nl and todon.eu:

- About a week ago, a fairly new todon.nl user jumped over from BlueSky to harass a trans woman on fedi.

- That harassment is based on a lot of very niche queer politics from Tumblr.

- This harassment has escalated into the todon.nl user making at least five fake accounts to dodge blocks.

- Todon.nl has taken no actions to stop this harassment.

#FediBlock #FediAdmin

The niche queer politics are all based on a series of decades old Tumblr posts that nobody read, but roughly speaking:

- There is a conspiracy theory that trans women all hate men and want to force everybody to become women.

- Trans women are impacted by misogyny and sometimes talk about things like feminism and patriarchy, just like cis women do.

- People find a trans woman talking about feminism, and then justify harassment with the conspiracy theory.

One thing to keep an eye out for is the acronym "TIRF".

The entire point of the acronym is that it's pronounced identically to "TERF".

It's obviously cruel to call trans women TERFs, so people who want to be cruel to trans women reverse engineered an acronym to do that.

That makes it really easy to to identify this sort of extremely-online transmisogynist harassment.

Notionally, TIRF stands for "trans-inclusive radical feminist".

If you ignore the homophone, TIRF is so meaningless as to be nonsensical because:

- Being trans-inclusive is a good thing.

- Radical feminism is just any feminism that has the goal of abolishing patriarchy.

Most modern feminists are both trans-inclusive and radical feminists.

It feels strange to call a feminist "trans-inclusive" or "radical" because those things are kind of just the default.

@fedilore TIRFs… or as we call them, “feminists”.
