Holy Batman these tufts look good!
I was playing around with the tuft Geometry Nodes, and when I switched to Eevee, I saw this.
Not so great in Cycles, because theres some normal switcheroos that don't vibe with ray tracing, but wow.

Some further tweaking. I think I could go for a short cut like this.
Just have to find the right profile.

Going "hairless" kind of hi-lighted the need to pay more attention to the shape of the ears, how they are proportioned with the rest of the head.
Deleted the previous geom in order to try again.
