I'm just going to say this plainly. I hate the whatsApp desktop app. ever since Meta took it into their heads to change the entire thing from the accessible version we all were using up to the start of the year, accessibility has gone out the window unless you shell out money for Jaws plus Jaws scripts, which shouldn't be necessary, seeing how for years, the desktop app was perfectly accessible whether you used Jaws or NVDA. I only keep it because I need to post MixCloud links to the Treehouse Radio whatsApp community, but if not for that, the thing would be off my machine faster than you could say Psychosoft. I just spent nearly a half hour trying to navigate the damn app to post a couple simple Mixcloud links to a group, something I'd have gotten done in thirty seconds before they screwed it up. And don't even get me started about the new wrinkle where you have to log in with the desktop app every damn time you start it up, as opposed to it automatically logging in like any senseable program would to. I mean, whatever in hell happened to programs being screen reader friendly out of the box? There was a time when that was the rule rather than the acception. But now, apparently, that's too much to expect.
