Make it make sense.

I have two premium channel subscriptions through Roku.

The first, HBOMax, I can watch on its native app. The Roku Channel version is inferior so I prefer the native app. I only discovered this this morning, after trying to deal with an episode of The Pitt in which the audio description was turned on and I was unable to turn it off on the Roku Channel app. I was able to download and sign in to the Max app with no trouble.

The other is AMC+. I cannot sign into their native app and use it. I have to view through the Roku Channel app. And, like the Max offerings, they are different and lesser on the Roku Channel version.

So I had to cancel the sub through Roku and pay directly to AMC+ in order to see their full offerings.

If I'm subscribing to a service, even if it's through another service, I should have the same experience on either choice.

Living in this timeline is mentally exhausting. Having to contort my brain into knots to make things work the way they're supposed to is not the way I want to spend my time.

The more tech "advances" the worse our lives become.

@ruemaleficent
there's always the high seas 🌊

@johnbrowntypeface Yeah, but that's a whole other kettle of fish I'm not mentally prepared to deal with, considering I am on Comcast Xfinity and there are many hoops to jump through to set that up without getting in trouble.

I'm too old and tired to do that anymore, sad to say.

Plus I can't lie in bed before sleep and watch on my bedroom TV if I go that route.

@ruemaleficent
a VPN is a pretty good shield
@johnbrowntypeface I do know how it works. I just don't have the spoons to deal with it.
@ruemaleficent At this point none of this should be this hard. It shows me what they spend their money on and it’s definitely not our experience of their products. Sorry, to state the obvious. I feel your frustration to the core.
@TomasHradcky it really should not be this hard. I went through that whole kerfuffle with Hulu and their inferior subtitling that they never fixed despite me getting into it with them repeatedly. They're happy to raise their prices all the time but the experience keeps getting worse.
