Another step on the way...

I uninstalled MS Office from the laptop a couple of days ago after checking that all my important files could be handled in #LibreOffice. They can.
This includes Excel spreadsheets that have a load of VBA code. I followed the import instructions (on a couple of LibreOffice help sites) and the resulting file ran the code without any issues (impressive!).

Already moved #OneNote stuff into #Joplin (which I find much easier than OneNote).

Next stage is to install a #Linux system onto the unused #Win10 desktop to experiment with NAS connections and #Wine (for a couple of 'essential' programs that don't have a Linux version). This should give confidence to replace Win10 on the 'daily use' laptop with a Linux system.

Then free of Windows and MicroSoft! Result!

@MyricaGale It's a good feeling. I still have to touch MS products at work, but at home, it's all at the very least software that doesn't fight me for control of my computer.
@OrionKidder At least at work it should only be your company that is 'exposed'.
@MyricaGale It's a funny one for me. I'm a prof, so a LOT of my work activity is traditionally my own "intellectual property," but of course, that's meaningless when it's all being fed into the wordchipper that is an "AI" corpus. I'm on a Mac, which is marginally less heinous, but I can't avoid Outlook and Teams. Alas.

@OrionKidder I used to have to use MS stuff a lot (software dev using C# and Visual Basic) and Teams for some meetings. Luckily avoided Outlook.
At present trying to avoid the Mediocracy/dumb-down machine of AI in all it's forms.

Haven't been to Vancouver for a while. My cousins live there now (retired - used to be in Mission).
