i saw this while biking, someone shoved their empty plastic bottle in this trimmed edge, and the sun went trough it like a magnifier and burned the surrounding leaves, at least that's my theory.

this could even start a fire. i took it out and threw it in the recycling.

@Stellar I think the bottle would melt if it was surrounded by a fire like that. I guess someone threw a cigarette or something in that bush. the bottle was placed later there.

plastic melts but at a higher temperature than kindling which smokes.

it didnt catch on proper fire just dried to the point of a light smolder which you can do with a hair drier and natural paper
