Another day with daily driving the #Librem5. Today with wireless and listening to some music. Curious to see how the battery will hold.

Based on usage yesterday, I had issues with the 4G data connection.I could not listen to music that I was streaming. So I just copied music to the phone and listening offlline. I tried using mpd, but kept getting errors. So I am using Rhytmbox.

@mrlakes What mobile provider are you using if you do not mind sharing?

@fisherdude Well, my provider is KPN, which is in the Netherlands.

Though I do feel there is something with the modem. After switching off the cellular for a few minutes with the kill switch, I usually regain connection again.

And sometimes it happens already with a bad signal. With 52% on 4G I am not able to toot.

@mrlakes Ok. I am in the United States. Yes, the modem can drop connection. Some providers are better than others.

@fisherdude @mrlakes

Unfortunately, the mobile data connectivity sometimes gets lost. I experience this as well. This is a known bug:

This issue is not related to the mobile provider as far as I know.

With Crimson (the beta of the next PureOS release) I have the impression the bug happens less. But this is difficult to prove. See: https://forums.puri.sm/t/crimson-experience/22228/304?u=janvlug

Also, I use GNOME Podcasts and Shortwave a lot on my #Librem5.

I notice the data connectivity loss mostly when listening to online radio with GNOME #Shortwave when I'm out of the house.

@janvlug @fisherdude Ah thanks for sharing! Seems like a very difficult bug as it has been open for 3 years. As I am usually in the train, I have access to WiFi ( when it works). So I can use that as a workaround for now.

@mrlakes

Yes, and switching the top kill switch to off and on again often (but not always) restores the mobile data connection as well.

Out of interest, are you on PureOS Byzantium or PureOS Crimson?

@fisherdude

@janvlug @mrlakes I am running PostmarketOS. For me, it is a big upgrade over PureOS Crimson.
@JanVlug @fisherdude I have PureOS Byzantium. I think I can make it work with switching on mobile once in a while. Cause I do not always need to be online.
