For #RomanFortThursday, a little ancient Scrabble: bronze letters from an inscription found at the Roman fort of Schirenhof near Schwäbisch Gmünd. Built around AD 160, the fort was abandoned in the mid-3rd century AD. It was the base of the Cohors I Raetorum, an auxiliary unit of about 500 men.

Could make sense. But christian bronze inscriptions in a legionnaire camp before 250 AD. Isn't that rather early?
What I'd really like to know is how many letters are missing. If we have 6 out of 50, that's a tough scrabble!

I mean, that's my first thought, but after reading the Wikipedia article, it seems probably more a honory inscription.
