@kkarhan @netblocks oh wow I have never heard of Toosheh before, do you know if it's still active?
@[email protected] @[email protected] @[email protected] yeah, you need like a *foreign* #Roaming #Data - #SIM (or #eSIM), as Iranian Telcos have no #DataRoaming agreements. - And OFC with all the #sanctions and #Outages in place one cannot simply go to some [e]SIM site on the internet and buy one. - Tho I may know some given your friends in Europe may be able to obtain these for you.

Add to it the fact that places like #Turkey demand #KYC on a per - #IMEI basis with registrations in #Turkcell shops after 90 days and they then ban devices for a full year, and you'd propably need at least 5 different Surfsticks [if not (e)SIMs, cuz ICCIDs will likely too be recorded] to swap between networks.
Plus there are not that many areas where this is feasible too.

@danialbehzadi @liaizon @netblocks mostly because #Iran also employs #ElectronicWarfare and uses jammers near the border.
@Jeffrey
Based on your post, it seems to me that you think this #Iran internet blackout a new one-off phenomenon. Perhaps this Wikipedia article can help clarifying the situation:

The gist of it is: the iran gov have cut internet access at any war or uprising as a measure to orchestrate the narrative fed to people inside, and to the rest of the world. This is a technique to control who hears what and when.
