Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez wins the internet this week with this striking characterisation of the wannabe dictator:

"The Government of Spain will not applaud those who set the world on fire, just because they show up with a bucket of water."

(Thanks to @Paul_stilgar for this find.)

@randahl @Paul_stilgar Yet he's hugely impopular, due to years of relentless media harassment.

@aurochs @randahl @Paul_stilgar And because, nationally speaking, he sucks. His party is supposed to be left, but is more center than anything and don't make me start about what he does and says about the different nationalities in Spain, because I'm catalan.

But I have to admit, he's becoming a pillar on the European politic battleground, and PSOE are the only big party who speaks against Israel, the USA, and fascist people.

@Johns_priv @randahl @Paul_stilgar If the first paragraph of your toot was true (or the cause of his unpopularity), the polytical right would be very happy with him.

@aurochs @randahl @Paul_stilgar You probably don't know much about Spanish politics.
The right has been shoyti insult something someone on the left was doing, to then do the exact same thing on a place they manage.

If the left says it, is bad, doesn't matter really what.

@Johns_priv @randahl @Paul_stilgar That's my point, his unpopularity is not due to his politics, but due to the relentless harassment of right wing dominated media monoculture.
@aurochs @randahl @Paul_stilgar I completely agree, that and the noise about his corrupt subordinates.
PP never faced that much harassment, even though they did way worse.
I'm still fuming about no one being detained when the hard drives with the proof where burnt.
