I've had a weird issue with my Mac mini M4 since I got it a year or so ago.

Shortly after I start using it every session, the screen will go black for a couple seconds. Any audio playing through the monitor speakers goes silent briefly. Once it does it, it's normally good until I let it go back to sleep.

I'm using HDMI. I've replaced the cables and are using high-end ones. I've also replaced the monitor (a Samsung ultra wide and with another Samsung).

Is this typical? Or should I make an appt with the Genius Bar, with the idea something is awry with my Mac mini?

@AncTreat5358 I had the same problem with a Samsung monitor and both M1 and M4 Mac minis.

I tried high-quality HDMI cables as well as HDMI-to-DisplayPort without success.

A USB-C to DisplayPort cable is what solved the problem for me. I haven’t experienced it again for the last year.

@MediocreWightMan Thanks for validating my experience, and sorry you hit it too.

That's a great idea to try that cable you mentioned. There is no Apple Store near me, so it would be very expensive to taxi to it. If I can solve the issue with a cable, then groovy!

I appreciate you sharing your experience, Rocky.
