You still see the old Vietnam. Imagine the state loudspeakers (Loa Phường) at 5 a.m. and the workers, heavily laden, heading out into the countryside at dawn, pulling bicycles or water buffaloes. It's not the Vietnam that science journalist and author Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen-Kim portrays in her glossy travelogue, but it's mystical and enriching nonetheless💯
