The oldest MIDI file I have personally collected - a rendition of Sting's "Englishman in New York" dated September 25th 1993.

@dosnostalgic Good heavens; how many pounds of flesh did THAT piece of kit cost you? I'd ask about first-borns, but you only get one of those. XD
@bluestarultor Thankfully I was able to pick it up for a very reasonable price awhile ago. But my birthday is coming up, and I placed an order for a next model on a Japanese auction for *very* cheap, so I'm *really* hoping that one will work out. 🤞
@dosnostalgic Rooting for you! 🤞
@bluestarultor *I'm broke, but I *am* very much living in America, so for me "reasonable" tops out at around 60 USD.
@dosnostalgic boy that sound takes me back
@dosnostalgic i still find myself saying “that’s fairly recen… wait that’s 33 years ago”
@dosnostalgic I think I had that one!
@dosnostalgic I remember going into a music shop in Birmingham around that time and they were playing it through a synth. Perhaps one of the earliest popular MIDI files (that actually seemed professionaly-generated)? :) 👍
