Well, you could have done so had you left last week. But you'd have had to change at East Perth into the Indian Pacific then again at Sydney Central into the Canberra XPLorer

@railmaps None of which I'd have minded, but the price is rather too much these days! :(

Every other time I've been to Canberra it's been on the Indian Pacific, sometimes from Sydney and sometimes on the overnight coach from Adelaide.

@samwilson I know what you mean. I have never travelled across the Nullarbor on the Indian Pacific because it's just too expensive. Though many, many years ago, when it was a train for normal people, I did travel on it once from Peterborough to Broken Hill, and another time from Broken Hill to Sydney.
