Hegseth announces automatic registration for US military draft to begin in December. Any immigrant who doesn't register within 30 days of turning 18 can be criminally charged.
While absurd, practically speaking all this does is show MAGA hypocrisy. Somehow automatic voter registration isn’t possible—but automatic registration for the draft program is both possible and now required.
MAGAs don't want to make it easier for young people to vote—just easier for them to die in Trump's illegal wars.

@QasimRashid I guess I'm a little slow. Requirements to register for military service aren't decided by the Pentagon or the Sec of Def or anyone else & no single person can dictate that any form of automatic registration can occur. Though fragile, this country still has a body of legislators who are tasked with making laws, even those that decide who must register for military service. Hegseth can make all the announcements he wants, but he doesn't make laws. Why would your post not say this?

@PattyHanson @QasimRashid while the US government has been treating every Executive Order as if it is the law since 47's been back in office, Pete isn't the president. It should also be noted that it's not legally binding and will 100% be challenged in court if it comes down to them trying to make it real without going through proper channels.
