Ornate inkwell, brass and silver, Iran, 16th century AD

Inkwell with CoverNaturalistic floral and animal decoration is combined with architectonic forms in this inkwell. Architectural shapes were first adapted for Islamic metalwork in eastern Iran during the Seljuk period in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries
@PugJesus Breathtakingly beautiful, made at a time absent many modern tools and therefore a labour of immense time and love.
How such artefacts (what logic lay behind the use of an 'e' rather than an 'i' here?) are created so flawlessly baffles me.
