LLMs are the future of software engineering. No, markdown is the future of software engineering. Wait, actually gstack is the future of software engineering.

No, good ideas and hard work are the future of software engineering, same as they've always been.

It may not be clear but my initial post wasn’t anti-AI. (Sorry if you liked or boosted this assuming it was.) Agentic coding tools amplify good ideas and democratize access to building them like nothing else ever has. But a lot of people are looking to AI as a shortcut — to not do the work.
@mergesort 💯 Personally, I really enjoy how LLMs allow me to bring my ideas to life, using capable models like Opus 4.6. I am able to build solutions for some real-life problems I encounter. As much as I understand the naysayers, I truly don’t think there’s any way back. In some ways, it’s like moving from writing all SW in assembly to all of a sudden having access to high-level object-oriented languages.
