Mobian's answer to age attestation/verification laws: they'll do what upstream Debian does (Debian doesn't have an official stance yet)

Btw, if you're interested in the answer of other distros, check out my "Linux/BSD age attestation/verification tracker": https://odysee.com/@fossery-tech:4/Linux-BSD-age-attestation-verification-tracker:7

@fosserytech How about anti-X? It doesn't use systemd, and works on lots of older computers.
@c_merriweather oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I just looked at their forum, I found a discussion but no official stance

@fosserytech One comment made me think of a work-around:

Register the OS maintainers as "religious" organizations in the US. Religious organizations have exemptions to a number of laws. Age verification of "church materials" is likely illegal, under freedom of speech laws.

Just a thought.

@fosserytech wow

this just like QubesOS answer.. saying you'll do whatever upstream does is just like hiding behind your friend when the bully comes around.

No, you stand NEXT TO YOUR FRIEND AND YOU CALL YOUR OTHER FRIENDS, to put the bully in their place

Linux distros need to stick together and not make it easy for the surveillance state, because it won't stop there.. if the FOSS community doesn't fight back no one will, not MacOS users, not Gamers, certainly not winslop users..

@levi yeah, I don't really get either why they don't just straight up reject it. It's a community project, they can't really be sued for non-compliance...
