I call people fucking cunts on 3 platforms. Here's what I've seen.

1. Mumsnet. Lots of engagement on posts where I call JK Rowling a fucking cunt. Banned.

2. LinkedIn. More consistent engagement with me calling Elon Musk a fucking cunt being most viral. Banned.

3. Mastodon. I once did a post where I called JK Rowling and Elon Musk a pair of fucking cunts and John Mastodon sent me a nice hamper.

@Nickiquote
I don't get it why a word for a female body part is a good insult for anyone.
Is it a patriarchy thing?

@LeelaTorres The use in the US is misogynistic, being used essentially solely for women, but this is not the usage in the rest of the English speaking world.

It is used, like words for male body parts and often interchangeably, because they are historically taboo and also because it is a pleasing-sounding insult, sharp at both ends.

@Nickiquote
Ass is also sharp and suitable for all genders.
But it's difficult to understand unfamiliar cultures of swearing 🙈

@LeelaTorres @Nickiquote I think (ex)plosive words are the best swear words. Fuck and Cunt are both plosive, dick is less so, but feels like more of a put down, less offensive less attacking.

You say shit or fuck when something goes wrong, they are plosive. Saying Oh dick when you hit your finger just doesn't work.

When you're ridiculing something you might say Oh arse or Bullshit.

anyway I think it's more to do with the sound of the word than what the word represents. When I here the word cunt I think old man more than vagina. When I hear dick, I think slightly younger man to be honest.
