DLR_nextGuten Morgen zusammen - hier gleich mal mit einem weiteren Wow-Bild, aufgenommen von der Orion-Bordkamera. Dabei verdeckt der Mond die Sonne. Der helle Punkt direkt rechts unterhalb des Mondes ist Saturn, ganz rechts am Bildrand der Mars.

linuxer@koenigdickbauch @dlr_next ich vermute, dass das Teil der Sonnenumgebung (Korona) ist, die zu sehen ist, weil die leuchtende Sonnenkugel durch den Mond verdeckt ist.
@koenigdickbauch Das ist die äußere Schicht der Korona, also der Gashülle um die Sonne - wenn man so will ihrer Atmosphäre. Sie ist nur sichtbar, wenn die Sonne selbst verdeckt wird. Dabei werden auch Staubpartikel angestrahlt, wie es sie überall im Sonnensystem gibt. In All herrscht zwar ein Vakuum - besser als in jedem Labor. Aber es gibt dennoch jede Menge Atome - sowohl im interplanetaren Raum als auch darüber hinaus im interstellaren Raum. Nur werden es da pro Raumeinheit immer weniger.
LaBagkIch möchte einfach nur, dass das alles erhalten bleibt und wir diese Ruhe und Frieden auch bald auf unserem Planeten haben...

Wenn die Sonne genau hinter dem Mond ist, wie ist dann zu erklären, dass der Mond teilweise auf der von der Sonne angewandten Seite beleuchtet ist? Habe gerade einen geometrischen Knoten im Kopf.... 🌙

From the crew’s perspective, the Moon appears large enough to completely block the Sun, creating nearly 54 minutes of totality and extending the view far beyond what is possible from Earth. The corona forms a glowing halo around the dark lunar disk, revealing details of the Sun’s outer atmosphere typically hidden by its brightness. Also visible are stars, typically too faint to see when imaging the Moon, but with the Moon in darkness stars are readily imaged. This unique vantage point provides both a striking visual and a valuable opportunity for astronauts to document and describe the corona during humanity’s return to deep space.
