"You're trans? You don't look trans!"

"Yes I do. You just don't know what trans people look like."

@CordiallyChloe There's a trans woman I found on Instagram, and her whole bit is that she passes and uses her super deep voice when telling stories in a very bro-y British accent. And the comments are full of people talking about how she can't be trans, because she's "too girly" or "too pretty". And I just think a lot of people don't understand that a lot of trans people aren't gender non-conforming. I think a lot of them just believe that early transition is the only stage we ever hit.

@itzyg That last sentence is exactly correct. They think we all look like early transition forever.

I'm highly gender conforming. Not for any particular reason other than "it's who I am." I like dressing and presenting this way. It makes me feel good.

I do not get clocked, misgendered, etc. Ever. Even other trans people normally don't clock me unless I'm explicitly making myself visible in some way.

None of this means I don't look trans. But that statement does tell me when someone doesn't really know any trans people.

@itzyg Also it makes me think back to that UK trans protest after their court rulings about trans women not being allowed in gendered spaces. And the TERFs were all saying "they got cis girls to protest too!" When, in fact, they were just not clocking trans girls.

The girl in question is actually a semi-regular user of some of the trans subreddits. I've spoken with her in the comments many times.

Transphobes are just so loaded with propaganda that they can't tell reality from fiction anymore.

@CordiallyChloe I'm pretty far from an expert on this, but I'm pretty sure trans people look like people? do i have that right?
@Wavebeam you got it! 🥰
