Well I learned something. Had one of those magnetic tool pads on my truck for a couple days. It left a faded patch when I removed it. Googled it. It’s a thing.

I am trying the “heat the paint in the sun” approach.

So the paint fades that much over a few days? Or is there something else going on?

@Weather_Rock_Wx it was a couple days. It’s either off-gassing from the vinyl on the magnetic pad, or else heat buildup due to the black coloration. Or both. According to my Googling.

It was just sitting like this (in a different spot ‘cos I moved it).

Thanks. Looks like a useful tool holder. I could have used something like that today while replacing a car battery.
