I'm looking for #floss / #opensource recommendations for software to create flyers, posters, zines and such.
So far I've used #Krita for designing things and #Scribus for creating the PDF files my print service wants. But it didn't feel like the best approach.
I also used #inkscape, e.g. for moderation cards.
Is there another software I'm missing out on? (Never got cozy with GIMP)
Am I on the right path and just need practice?

I think you've got most of the tools.
There are some workflow techniques you can use, and make sure you've got the latest version of Krita which came out week before last as I think that improves text handling for your workflow.
For inkscape the limitation will be color managed PDF output. At least until 1.5 comes out.

I got the last version of Krita, was really happy about that. The old text tool was a big pain point, I've never been waiting for an update for a software (aside from games) so eagerly^^
So for colour management, I would need to create my flyer in inkscape and then pass it through Scribus again to get an output with CMYK profile?

Maybe.
If you don't need specific control of your blacks, you can just pass it to scribus.
If you just need to get colors accurate, you don't need scribus at all, just load the icc profile your printer recommends into inkscape and switch on the print proofing. Then send the printer the sRGB PDF, it's a wider gamut anyway and you'll have already done the gamut and accuracy checking.
When you need specific control of output, you need a bit more scribus. Or Inkscape 1.5.
