As the case against City of Sanctuary suggests, right wing commentators & politicians are happy to use false allegations in their 'culture war', as even when (finally) disproved & rejected, in the interim they have caused harm to, and problems for the targeted organisations.

I'd like to say that this case was an isolated instance of misinformation being used in the (so-called) culture wars, but actually this is pretty typical case!

The Guardian

@ChrisMayLA6 Gavin Fucking Williamson.

Is there no way to sue him for libel or defamation?

@BashStKid

He'll hide behind 'legitimate concerns' & 'only' requesting an investigation.... he may even be saying that he is 'glad' the organisation has been vindicated if he is particularly cynical

@ChrisMayLA6 @BashStKid as Sir Terry wrote "A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its boots"
@ChrisMayLA6 The right has always lied because they know their policies can't possibly lead to their predictions. They lie because money on the right will reward them with donations. The right is concerned only with their own welfare.
