Pirates never played accordions

Accordions were invented during the 1800s Industrial Revolution at the same time as the telegraph, steam engine and the typewriter

100 years after the Golden Age of Piracy 1600s–1700s

So every pirate movie with an accordionist is a science fiction movie with a time-travel sub plot 🚀⌛️

@Theosoreass @AccordionBruce @catsalad pirates playing the hurdy gurdy is also anachronistic. There is absolutely zero historical evidence of them being taken aboard ships, which makes sense because they are incredibly humidity sensitive and are rendered completely unplayable in damp environments! The myth was pretty much started by soundtracks to pirate TV and video games of in the past 20 years, and now the association plagues all gurdy players.
