@preinheimer Yeah, but Petrov was just questioning the evidence of what he was being told/seeing and trusted that the overall system of deterrence would function and respond even if he decided to not act. That's a different kettle of fish than disobeying an order directly given by POTUS, who the US in its un-wisdom has given direct launch authority and not responsive/second strike authority alone.
