I've gotten as far as "It goes in the blue/red/green/etc pile" irrespective of what kind of card it is.
Well I landed on Phabine, Boss's Confidant as a Commander because:
1) Cat.
2) Tricoloured so I have a wider selection of cards
3) Did I mention, cat?

For a first draft, I'd keep it simple: ramp, card draw, removal, then a big pile of cards that make extra bodies so Phabine actually snowballs.
