This is like watching a slow motion train wreck. Except there's no physical momentum involved. It can be stopped simply by stopping it.

Yet it lumbers on toward disaster.

He literally told us that the objective is to “wipe out their whole civilization”. If that isn’t a crime against humanity, the most fundamental of war crimes, nothing is.

Virtually no one wants this. It will accomplish nothing. We must stop it.

@mattblaze And yet nothing can be done without his party, which has clearly signaled that it supports him. "We" are left powerless.

@noahm @mattblaze It's not true though, Americans could stop it. Or, at the very least could have. A general strike, bring everything to a halt. Stop the machine, and then fight it.

We've done it before, but we forgot... or were memory-holed. We used to be a labor nation, we used to strike and stop the machines.

We invented May Day for fuck's sake, in Chicago, with Mother Jones and Lucy parsons, the IWW and so on. and then the ruling class memory-holed it, and we forgot what we could do.

@quinn @noahm @mattblaze I feel like late capitalist atomization plus hyper-individualized bread & circuses (mostly circuses) has succeeded in a way that’s like some bizarro dream mashup of Huxley, Orwell, Bradbury dystopias which is even trippier than they could’ve imagined, because a main feature is how mundane and “ordinary” everything still seems on the surface, and how little reaction there is with any real impact.
