The "fediverse isn't inclusive enough of AI" guy is still going on, and while I am wary of giving more attention to a catastrophically bad take, I also think it's an instructive example of AI boosterism and bad faith.

His original post, as doubled down on in two replies over the course of two days, used AI boosters as an example of a group that is supposedly unwelcome on the fediverse, but whenever he's called on that, he switches to "but I'm not defending AI."

@xgranade I really wish these folks could understand the difference between being unwelcome for what you do vs. being unwelcome for who you are. They're squarely in the former group but convinced they're in the latter, and it's just so exhausting.
@joshsutphin Yes, this, so very much so this. Criticism of one's actions is very, very different from prejudice against one's identity.
@xgranade @joshsutphin It’s probably not a coincidence that a certain type of tech worker tends to see them as the same thing (ie. their outrage at the disrepect being shown to their “identity” is at least partially genuine.

@joshsutphin @xgranade

Nailed it.

(Please imagine I've inserted that GIF of the guy pointing up here.)
