David wanted God to preserve him.  David says YHWH is his God; His holy ones are excellent. 

Those who make offerings to other gods will experience distress; David refused to do so.  YHWH is his inheritance and portion; David has a good heritage. 

David would bless YHWH; he has set YHWH before him; thus David will not be moved.
