Jutta Hipp with Zoot Sims

...and with Ed Thigpen (OK, @octothorpe ?).

Thigpen played with Hipp on the previous release I've posted with her, and given she only recorded in the US in 1954-57, and then stopped...well, there's just not a lot out there.

Having read up on her in the meantime, a rather tragic career...too bad.

But - this is great regardless. Also features Jerry Lloyd (trumpet), Ahmed Abdul-Malik (bass).

@octothorpe Hers is pretty sad, apart from the Leonard Feather bit...the Art Blakey incident is awful.

@octothorpe "When Art Blakey asked her to sit in with his group at the Bohemia café in New York, she refused, stating that she was drunk and in any case did not think she was good enough. Blakey dragged her to the piano and began playing at a furious tempo that she was unable to maintain.
