People aren’t going to like the reading of the article, but it appears as if the driver slammed on the gas instead of the brakes and proceeded to launch himself into the tree.

As someone who’s done a lot of driving using autopilot (commence downvotes) this doesn’t seem like an event that makes sense.

However, I do agree that the door handles are a dangerous gimmick and probably would’ve saved the lives of these two people if they worked without power.
