But you won't. And if you did then something worse would replace it, like we've sort of dumped the Conservative party (the party of Thatcher, Major, Cameron, Churchill etc.) but in its place we've got Reform which now head the polls despite having policies that mirror MAGA and actually probably being a worse bet than the conservatives.
And I note that MTG was replaced by a pro-Trump republican (albeit with a reduced margin) in Georgia, so there’s still plenty of Americans who will vote for continuation of this madness.
For better or worse, I'm thinking of the treatment of collaborators in France after WWII.
@samlitzinger It has to be more complete than that. We need to educate the public to spot right-wing and anti-intellectual projects from the jump. We need to root out the people who sound like they're environmental leftists until you actually ask them what worries them and they babble about the PoPuLaTiOn BoMb and reveal that they think of "nature" as a holiday destination they drive to.
We need an entire nation of people who can hear every last dogwhistle, and won't stand for it.
I grew up in a small conservative Texas town in the 80s. There was no such thing as liberal media or differing viewpoints. Racism and bigotry was just in the air.
But I knew, in my soul, what was right and wrong. These people didn’t become homophobes or racists because of Rush Limbaugh, they listed to him because they were racists and homophobes.
I am truly starting to believe that like a third of humanity is just, for lack of a better term, stupid and evil.
The part that really worries me is the ~38% of Americans who still support Trump. They won't simply disappear after the midterms, nor change their minds if nothing has changed them yet.
